Celebrating Success at the European Inventor Award
This year Lios won the prestigious European Inventor Award (EPO) in the SME category. The ceremony was held in Valencia, Spain, and was also live streamed to tens of thousands of people online. The European Patent Office (EPO) recognised our innovative contributions to the environment and society, catapulting us into the spotlight with global media coverage and new customer inquiries. Lios Moves Back to the Heart of Dublin
In a significant move, the Lios team relocated to a new office in the vibrant heart of Dublin, marking our return to physical collaboration post-pandemic. The newfound space fosters creativity and teamwork, reinforcing our commitment to innovation.
Collaborative Triumphs in Commercial Projects
We had another great year of integrating SoundBound into some of the greatest products on the market. In 2024, we are excited to begin new joint development projects with market leaders across the globe. A big thanks, as always, to all of our customers as we collaborate to create products that make the world a quieter place.
SoundBounce Takes Center Stage at the EPO Museum
To mark the 50th anniversary of the European Patent Convention, the EPO unveiled a new museum exhibition celebrating pivotal European inventions. Representing the innovations of the 2010s, SoundBounce now takes centre stage at the EPO museum for the year. Our CEO, Rhona, played a central role in the exhibition's opening in Munich and remains actively involved in supporting the EPO's outreach to startups and SMEs. Most recently, she participated as a speaker on the 'Boosting Startups with IP' panel.
Embarking on a New Frontier with European Space Agency
In February, Phase 2 of our European Space Agency (ESA) project kicked off, focusing on lightweighting and employing SoundBounce for Fairing Acoustic Protection. Our public announcement in the Business Post garnered positive feedback and congratulations from the Irish entrepreneurial and space communities. Lios is working to increase the security of delicate satellites and payloads as they make their journey to space.
Innovation Trailblazers: Rhona and Eimear Claim Women of the Year Title
The Women of the Year Awards, Irish Tatler’s annual celebration of Irish women, took place in early November. This year, our Co Founders, Rhona and Eimear, were awarded the Women of the Year in Innovation, highlighting the impact of SoundBounce at home and abroad. Being named among such an inspirational group of Irish women is an honour.
Trade Show Triumphs: Lios' Global Impact
Lios made waves in the global materials landscape at two premier trade shows this year.
In April, we shone at JEC, Europe's largest composites show, focusing on sustainability. This event was a prime platform for engaging with customers, suppliers, and peers, driving innovation. Explore our JEC experience on LinkedIn and our blog.
Continuing across continents, we showcased SoundBounce at CAMX in Atlanta, the biggest trade show for composites and advanced materials in North America, earning finalist honours in the Unsurpassed Innovation awards. Although we didn’t win, the three busy days yielded an array of meetings with new and existing customers, potential pilot production partners, suppliers and equipment manufacturers, and industry peers.
